At Hops in the Park, visitors can talk with historical interpreters about what it was like to live on the banks of the James River in the early 1600’s. Learn about Sir Thomas Dale, Pocahontas or just enjoy the views of the James River! Listen to live music at the blacksmith and bluff stages while you explore the park. Children are welcome and families are encouraged to explore the historic site; please supervise children at all times.

Is Hops in the Park a family-friendly event?
Absolutely! Families are encouraged to explore the historic site and enjoy the views. Children are welcome to learn about history through our interactive environment, including stories of Sir Thomas Dale and Pocahontas. We simply ask that you please supervise children at all times while exploring the park grounds.
What is the cost of admission and how do I purchase drinks?
Admission to the event is free! Once inside, you can enjoy a variety of food, marketplace items, and Virginia-brewed craft beers and ciders. Please note that beer ticket sales are entirely cashless, so be sure to bring a credit or debit card for your beverage purchases.
What activities are available for families and history lovers?
It is a full afternoon of live music, brewing demonstrations, and Virginia history. You can speak with historical interpreters to learn about Pocahontas, Sir Thomas Dale, and 17th-century life. Visitors are also encouraged to bring blankets and chairs to relax while exploring the historic site and the beautiful bluffs overlooking the James River.

By joining the festival, you are helping preserve the past for the future. Proceeds from Hops in the Park benefit the Children’s Education Fund, which supports hands-on history programs for regional school children each academic year. It’s a great way to enjoy the best of Virginia’s craft beer scene while giving back to local education.

Available in the satellite parking lot at USA Iron and Metal, located at 1800 Coxendale Road, which will open at 10:45 AM. A shuttle will be taking you to and from the parking lot to the park.
